She said she would be there. — Она сказала, что будет там.

I would rather stay at home tonight than go to the theatre. — Я бы предпочел остаться дома сегодня, а не ходить в театр.

I'd reaher not. — Я бы не хотел. /Мне не хочется.

2) образует формы условного наклонения

He would come if he knew. — Он бы пришел, если бы знал.

3) часто употребляется для вежливой формы просьбы и приглашения

I would like a cup of tea. — Я бы выпил чашку чая.

Would you like to come with us? — Не хотите ли пойти с нами?

Would you open the window, please? — Откройте, пожалуйста, окно.

4) отрицательная форма wouldn't указывает на нежелание или отказ от действия, часто относится к неодушевленным предметам при нарушении их обычных функций

There is something wrong with the lock, the key wouldn't turn. — Что-то случилось с замком, ключ не поворачивается.

My pen wouldn't write. — У меня ручка не пишет.

5) указывает на повторность привычного, характерного для подлежащего действия в прошлом; бывало

Sometimes she would bring me little presents without saying why. — Иногда она, бывало, без всяких причин приносила мне небольшие подарки.

He would never let anybody know what he was doing. — Он обычно никому не говорил о том, что делал.
